Year 5 & 6

The Hut is our year 5/6 classroom and as the name suggests, it is a classroom that supports the notion that having fun is the best way to learn. Our focus is on children feeling happy and positive during their day at school. This begins by creating a classroom culture of inclusiveness for all learners. We acknowledge that we are all different and work hard to relate to to others, through social interactions and specific learning groups. We have adopted the Circle Time approach by Jenny Mosley, to enhance self-esteem and positive relationships in our environment. As a class we have agreed to use Circle Time meetings to discuss and celebrate topics, reflect on our learning and to justify our opinions on situations we feel need a closer look.

A strong mathematics and Literacy programme supports the needs of all learners, with a full time learning assistant and additional learning space - we are all about quality education.

We also happen to be IT enthusiasts and are crazy about our 1:1 digital learning environment. Student motivation is strong as we integrate digital technologies across the curriculum.

Drama, dance, music are also top on our list of favourites, and not to mention physical education - we have numerous representative sports players in the class.
