Elstow-Waihou School is committed to delivering a child-centred, future-focused education. Our Year 5-8 students use Chromebooks to do much of their learning, this coupled with school’s leased desktops and laptops means that our students have a one-to-one digital learning experience. A suite of Google apps ensures that children are connected, confident and collaborative learners.
We have committed significant funds to the development of digital learning for our youngest learners with iPads in the junior rooms (NE – Year 4). Our children have the opportunity to experience the best teaching practice in supportive classroom environments with ample digital resources.
Our teachers believe that cyber safety is a fundamental component of digital learning. Children learn first, how to keep themselves and their peer’s safe on the Internet. The school has also invested in a device monitoring service to ensure that students are ‘doing the right thing, in the right place, at the right time.’ Teachers are supported with their professional development with IT facilitators.
Teachers share and collaborate with colleagues. Teachers here not only develop their personal teaching practice but also model to students that we are all ‘life-long learners’.
